Sue Buell & Raleigh Dove are the founders & owners of Yoga Pathways Studio LLC (est. 2006).  Opening our own studio has enabled us to move beyond fitness yoga to give full expression to the wisdom that has benefited yoga practitioners for millennia. Our class size (smaller than the gym!) allows us to give the individual attention needed to ensure an enjoyable and beneficial practice for all of our students.  In addition to our yoga instruction, we are both committed to providing community space for a variety of workshops and events promoting health, fitness, socializing and learning in Monument.

 Sue Buell
I have been taking yoga classes since 1981 and have been teaching since 2004.  I tend toward the Iyengar style of teaching as I am drawn to alignment awareness as well as the fullness of the yogic tradition.  I am a hiker in my spare time, and I have learned that there are many paths up the mountain.  They allow for different journeys, but you always get to the top.  So, I am not solely teaching from any one tradition.  You can get to the top of a yoga idea or posture from many angles.  Yoga has kept me open physically since 1986, supporting a full-time career in massage therapy.  I value the stamina, energy and calmness I get from practicing yoga.

Raleigh Dove, RYT
I've been teaching yoga in Monument since 1999, in various places until Yoga Pathways Studio was founded in 2006. My joy in teaching comes from watching my students grow in their knowledge, and seeing the powerful benefits that regular practice brings to them.
I completed my first teacher training in 1999, after many years of yoga practice with various teachers (my first class was in 1973).  In 2000 I discovered Anusara Yoga, founded by John Friend, and since then have focused my ongoing training and study in this heart-opening, life-affirming style of practice.  Anusara Yoga uses an elegant system of biomechanical alignment (called the Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment) to help students optimize their strength & energy in a safe and effective manner.  I study with John at least once a year, as well as with other senior Anusara teachers (Jamie Allison, Anthony Bogart and Desiree Rumbaugh).
In addition to ongoing teacher-training, I also study yoga therapeutics with the above instructors.  I employ the therapeutic techniques in my public classes to modify asana (postures) as needed, and also offer private yoga classes to focus in more depth on individual therapeutic needs.

"I've dabbled in yoga for over 25 years...Raleigh is the first teacher I've found that has really helped me focus on my form.  She has taught me that you have to first focus on your inner body to make the changes on your outer body. Because of her classes and teaching style, I feel that I'm really progressing in my yoga practice. I continue to enjoy it immensely and enjoy the mental and physical benefits."

"At the behest of my physician I sought yoga as therapy for my back pain.  I'm very fortunate to have found Raleigh Dove; she has taught me certain therapeutic yoga exercises that I've found very beneficial.  Raleigh is an impressive trainer, she is quite knowledgeable and thoroughly professional.  I highly recommend her as a yoga instructor."

Geri Weis, RYT

My daughter introduced me yoga by giving me the courage to attend my first class in 2004.  Mind you, this was following 5 years of encouragement from my massage therapist to try yoga as an aid to relieve my stiffness and sore muscles.  It was love at first asana.  I, like so many, had thought that after a certain age, life came with a loss of flexibility.   With regular practice, and feeling stronger and more limber, I felt the need to learn more, completing 200 hours of teacher training in December 2008.  When I learn something new, I love to share it…and in yoga, we learn something every day.  If I can do it, so can you!

Ana Alexander
After Ana discovered Nia in the fall of 2007, she became a regular in the YMCA classes around Colorado Springs. She decided to take a sabbatical from her IT career to pursue her goal of becoming a White Belt and teaching. She looks forward to sharing the joy of movement and passing on the gift given to her by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas, Nia's cofounders.

Marilee Mason Suomela
Marilee is trained in Sanga Yoga and Silversneakers. She comes to Monument from Michigan. Working through her own post-surgery physical training, she discovered yoga and has been a devoted fan ever since. She is pleased to have this opportunity to share her love of yoga and quest for well-being and health with her students.
