Class Descriptions
Gentle Yoga (All-Levels) Raleigh Dove We stretch & strengthen in this class, moving slowly and modifying the postures as needed, so that everyone
can participate at his/her own level. Good for people who: are really tight; are inactive and want to gently improve
their fitness level; are recovering from illness or injury; have limitations in their bodies and need to exercise safely;
and those who simply need to slow down & relax.
Level
1 Yoga (Beginning) Raleigh Dove Learn basic postures from each category. Become aware of body mechanics through
the Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment. Develop strength, stamina and flexibility in a safe & effective
manner. Learn to focus & relax the mind. For active beginners & others who wish to work on the basics.
All-Levels Yoga Sue Buell This class focuses on alignment
for safety, stretching and strengthening for health, opening inside for peacefulness, and variety for fun. To make
multi-level classes work for you, just drop your personal judgments at the door and think only about yourself as you explore
each asana/pose. This grows your ability to feel how much trying and how much relaxing is just right for you at
that particular moment. Tai Chi for Health Maureen Caldwell Tai Chi is a form
of weight-bearing exercise that is easy on the joints. All ages can do it. It is good for: improving concentration and
memory; relaxation; stress reduction; relief from anxiety and depression; and improved flexibility, posture and balance. It
also: increases circulation of the blood and lymph; and improves the function of the heart, lungs and immune system. This
class is appropriate for beginners.
Meditation Raleigh Dove
Guided group
meditation is a good way to learn, and strongly supports your ongoing practice. The benefits of meditation are huge.
Come learn different techniques for relaxing, quieting your busy thoughts, focusing your mind and experiencing your self on
a deeper level. This Monday class is an enjoyable, effective way to get centered for your week. No yoga or meditation
experience necessary. Many options for sitting comfortably. Level 1-2 Yoga (Beginning & Continuing) Raleigh Dove For
students who know the basics of yoga practice, and enjoy an active workout. Also good for beginners who are active
people without major physical limitations. This class will wake you up and take your practice to the next level, as you continue
to refine your understanding of the Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment while practicing a variety of asana (postures)
in this full-spectrum class.
Restorative Yoga (All Levels)
Raleigh Dove (offered for private classes and occasional workshops) This practice is about very deep relaxation and stress release. The modified postures are
supported by props and held for several minutes, at rest. Restorative yoga boosts your immune system and gently and passively
stretches your body. No experience or ability needed. Class also includes pranayama (breathwork) and easy meditation practices. Pure
bliss!
