Yoga Nidra
Relaxation Workshop
with Barbara Brandon

Yoga nidra (yogic sleep) induces complete physical and mental relaxation through guided visualization. Studies have show that yoga nidra helps: eliminate the effects of stress; reduce high blood pressure; induce more restful sleep; and boost the immune system. It has also been effective for patients who suffer from PTSD. Medical practitioners recognize yoga nidra as a complementary from of treatment for individuals recovering from injury or suffering from chronic pain.

Yoga nidra is generally practiced in Savasana (reclined on your mat). Wear comfy clothing, bring a blanket and your yoga mat (or use one of ours). Workshop will include a basic asana (posture) practice.

Yoga and Beyond:
Strategies for Coping with Stress & Anxiety
with Raleigh Dove, RYT

Class includes restorative yoga practice, breath work, meditation and the creation of your own individual plan, using a very effective tool I developed for managing my own stress/anxiety. No yoga experience is needed, and all levels of fitness can safely participate.

Even when our lives are running smoothly, our bodies are affected by stress created by the fast pace of modern life, family issues, constant bombardment of information, exposure to environmental toxins, economic uncertainties and more. Add to that the fact that our lives don’t always run smoothly! It is now known that the root of much disease is our constant exposure to stress, and that it is imperative that you manage your stress level, just as you monitor diet and fitness regimen. This workshop will not remove all the stressors in your life. Sorry! But those who come will:

a) learn how constant stress and anxiety affect your health
b) learn strategies that help you reduce the amount of stress felt in your body, to keep you healthy
c) experience practices that induce a state of deep relaxation.

Raleigh Dove is co-owner of Yoga Pathways Studio, and has offered public and private yoga instruction for all levels in the Monument area since 1999. She specializes in using yoga practice as a therapeutic tool for well-being. The Universe has generously provided her with many learning opportunities for coping with stress and anxiety!
